About Us
AAPI Silicon Valley (formerly AAPI Mountain View) is a team of young people from the San Francisco Bay Area passionate about creating positive change in our communities.
At our core, we are a youth-led organization. Our members range from middle-schoolers to high-schoolers to adults. We believe that youth leadership is imperative to build the society we hope to live in for the future. We work to ensure that progression towards change becomes a movement, not just a moment.
Our Mission
We are a youth-led organization aiming to cultivate pride and identity through engaging and elevating the new generation of Asian-American Pacific Islander youth leaders.
Our Goals
To realize our mission, we
-
Create platforms for AAPI youth voices, stories, and exploration of identity.
-
Collaborate with local AAPI and POC groups.
-
Fight for education of diverse history in schools.
-
Challenge preconceptions about AAPI to foster relationships within and beyond the community.
Committees
Education
The Education Committee strives to rectify the perception of AAPI experiences to achieve racial/ethnic justice in academic settings. We will work to establish ethnic courses in high school by conducting research on existing studies and educating new generations.
Arts and Culture
The Arts and Culture Committee aims to bring people together through AAPI art. We celebrate the diversity of AAPI art, encourage youth participation in the arts, and support local artists.
Community Engagement
The Community Engagement committee educates and builds bonds in the local community. We aim to change the perspective on what it means to be AAPI, address cultural differences within the AAPI community, and encourage POC to appreciate each group’s diversity of experience and culture.
